What is DECA?

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with the organization has resonated into a brand the people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA's programs and activities have constantly evolved with the latest technology and application of cutting edge educational research.

DECA is organized into two unique student divisions each with programs designed to address the learning styles, interest and focus of its members. The High School Division includes 200,000 members in 3,500 schools. The Collegiate Division includes over 15,000 members in 275 colleges and universities.

DECA Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit student organization with more than 215,000 members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. The United States Congress, the United States Department of Education and state, district and international departments of education authorize DECA’s programs.


What does that mean for Camosun DECA Business Club?


To be the primary student club in the School of Business by providing an inclusive and positive environment where students are able to develop professionally, acquire new skills, establish connections, and participate in industry-specific competitive events. Camosun DECA is the foundation from which our emerging leaders can grow and flourish personally and in our community.

Business Objectives

The long-term business objectives of Camosun DECA are to increase awareness of DECA throughout the province to maximize student membership, strengthen corporate sponsorship, and encourage direct support of events in the community through scholarships and other avenues.


Camosun DECA operates in accordance with the highest standards in all relationships with members, volunteers, sponsors and the community. DECA fosters a climate that encourages innovation and diligence among advisors and volunteers.
